Faunts is an Indie rock band from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, formed in the fall of 2000 by two brothers, Steve and Tim Batke. Their 2005 album High Expectations/Low Results was well-received by Allmusic[1]. Their most recent project, a 40-minute EP titled M4, grew out of creating music for a short film. [2]. A track from M4 was featured at the end credits of Bioware's 2007 RPG, Mass Effect. On November 18, they will releases a remix album titled Faunts Remixed, featuring remixes by acts such as Mark Templeton and DVAS, which will be available exclusively through iTunes.

7. Twenty-Three
8. Gone With the Day
9. Low Results
Album Description:
Quote:
"As the record makes its way through such stellar moments as "Instantly Loved" and "Place I've Found," keyboards blend with guitars, and the vocals, although never prominent, sail steadily through the mix. In fact, the band's use of instruments is more than enough to create an intense experience. The 13-minute, snail-paced "Gone with the Day" adds slowcore and country to the relaxed atmosphere, greatly expanding the band's palette. And High Expectations/Low Results surprises as much as it soothes: a vocoder enters the picture on "Twenty-Three" while at the same time Faunts seem to be nodding to '70s psychedelia. A satisfying record for any fan of spacy rock." -allmusic.com
"Debut release from Canada's Faunts. Shimmering walls of pink noise with dreamy, languorous guitar, gently-treated vocals, and swimmingly beautiful melodies. Recommended for fans of Mogwai, Sigur Rós, and Slowdive."

Second Album:M4 (EP)
M4 Digital EP
FFRD-001
Released December 11, 2007
Tracklist:1. M4 (Part II)
2. Sleepwalker
3. M4 (Part I)
4. Meno Mony Falls
5. Of Nature
Album Description:
Quote:
"Originally written for a live performance hosted by the Film And Video Arts Society, M4 (which includes the song "M4 Part II," as featured in the video game "Mass Effect") is composed of scores originally created to accompany three independent short films. Harnessing the use of electronics and synthesizers, Faunts have gathered material that is more ambient and atmospheric than their previous work, but still demonstrates their love for layered melodies and sparkling electronics."
"The aesthetic of M4 is noticeably more purposeful than their debut, with choice variations between tracks that add to the whole without disrupting the overall flow. Newfound fans from the Mass Effect realm who are looking for more of the same will not be disappointed, nor will they be bored. Faunts arent a one-trick pony. Theyre the real deal." -Tiny Mix Tapes

"A 14-track, 80+ minute long digital-only assembly of reworked songs from Faunts' first two records, spanning the gamut from four-on-the-floor dancefloor bangers to absract electro-acoustic soundscapes, courtesy of folks like Cadence Weapon, Mark Templeton, Brightest Feathers (aka Saxon Shore), Paronomasiac (aka Nik from Shout Out Out Out Out) and many more. Released November 18, 2008."
"Faunts Remixed features a selection of tracks from High Expectations/Low Results, as well as 2006's M4 EP, remixed by a wide range of contributors, including Cadence Weapon, San Serac, Boy in Static, Saxon Shore, and Faunts themselves, to name a few. Unlike most remix albums - and this is the main reason why I've featured it - Faunts Remixed is well-rounded and listenable, of all things, which is rare with this format." -Exclaim.ca

"Let's breathe a collective sigh of relief, because the five-piece Canadian outfit doesnt disappoint with this album. Their second proper full-length, Feel... is rife with gauzy, shoegaze-influenced guitar compositions and effects-laden melodies that have a rather tranquilizing effect on one's mind." -XLR8R.com
